CNC Press Brake Operator


Northeast Auto group Burton is looking for a skilled CNC Press Brake Operator to join our fabrication team. You will operate, set up, and program CNC press brake machines to produce precise, high‑quality metal components safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read engineering drawings, and thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Fabrication

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC press brake (DELEM)
  • Select and install correct tooling, punches, and dies.
  • Adjust back gauges, bend allowances, and machine parameters.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure production accuracy and compliance with drawings.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency in all produced components.

Quality & Safety

  • Read and interpret fabrication/engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Inspect parts using calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and machine operating guidelines.
  • Report machine faults or potential safety risks immediately.

Productivity & Workflow

  • Work efficiently to meet production deadlines and daily output targets.
  • Assist with workflow planning and continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate with team members to maintain smooth production processes.

Maintenance

  • Conduct basic daily/weekly machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, checks).
  • Report maintenance needs to supervisors or maintenance technicians.

 

Essential skills:

  • Demonstrated experience operating CNC press brake machinery.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience selecting tooling and performing machine setup.
  • Competent with precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, protractors, angle gauges).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication and problem‑solving skills.

 

Desirable skills:

  • Forklift licence or overhead crane experience.
  • Trade qualification in metal fabrication or related field.
  • Experience in continuous improvement (5S, lean manufacturing).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (if applicable).

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift components up to 20–25 kg safely.
  • Good manual dexterity and vision for quality inspection.
