As a Leading Hand Technician at our dealership, you will be an advanced diagnostic specialist with exceptional auto electrical capability. You will lead by example while servicing, repairing and maintaining a range of trucks and commercial vehicles, taking ownership of the most complex and technically challenging jobs in the workshop.

You will deliver high quality workmanship, accurately diagnose faults, and play a key leadership role between technicians and management. This role is hands on and technical, with a strong focus on supporting, guiding and mentoring others to lift capability across the workshop and ensure every vehicle leaves operating safely and at peak performance.

About the role

  • Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the workshop
  • Take ownership of advanced diagnostics and complex fault finding across heavy vehicles
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and technical faults across heavy vehicles and machinery
  • Carry out and support engine, transmission and differential rebuilds where required
  • Allocate and plan jobs to ensure efficient workflow and turnaround times
  • Provide hands on technical guidance to technicians and apprentices
  • Assist with the most difficult and high risk repairs in the workshop
  • Coordinate parts requirements and job planning with the Parts and Service teams
  • Review completed work and ensure all paperwork and documentation is accurate
  • Mentor and develop apprentices and technicians
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety focused workplace

    About you 
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (dual trade advantageous)
  • Extensive industry experience with advanced diagnostic capability
  • Proven experience as a senior technician, leading hand or similar role
  • Strong auto electrical skills and confidence working with complex systems
  • Strong technical and diagnostic capability across heavy vehicles and machinery
  • Rebuild experience across engines, transmissions and differentials highly regarded
  • Ability to plan work, identify parts and solve problems efficiently
  • Confident communicator with natural leadership and mentoring skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Driver’s licence (HR Licence advantageous)
